Controlling Mosquitoes – Fogging

Controlling Mosquitoes

Some mosquito problems can’t easily be controlled by eliminating breeding sites alone. Select one of the control options to learn more about how to fight mosquitoes on your own terms.

Fogging

Electric or propane powered foggers are used by both professionals and homeowners to provide temporary relief from mosquitoes. Permethrin, sumithrin, allethrin and pyrethrins are the most commonly available insecticides, and are relatively low in toxicity to people. Foggers are designed to kill mosquitoes while they are resting on exposed leaves or while flying. The chemicals used in fogs have a very short life, and so can be expected to provide only a few hours to a day or so of mosquito relief.
