Dog Hosts

Dog heartworm is an important parasite of dogs. Dog heartworm disease is caused when a tiny parasitic worm enters the bloodstream of a dog through a mosquito bite. Dogs should regularly be treated for heartworm to prevent this potentially fatal disease.
